The Duke Sword with Scabbard brings the medieval period to life in your gear and your sword collection alike. This sword is a must-have for aspiring knights and sword-lovers at heart, a masterpiece of design that evokes the chivalry of the Middle Ages.
Master Craftsmanship by Darksword Armory
The Duke is inspired by the works of a French Renaissance man known as Eugene Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc. In the sword community, he is known for authoring the work known as the “Medieval Encyclopedia,” whose illustrations informed the design of this steel sword. The Duke is forged from 5160 high carbon steel, a chromium-alloyed spring steel that produces an incredibly resilient and flexible blade. This type of steel is also resistant to rust and boasts an impressive edge retention. This is a fully functional weapon forged with a full tang. Having a full tang means the blade is forged as one piece that extends into the handle. This gives it strength and balance.
As with any sword, the most important feature is the blade. You can choose to have the blade Sharpened or Unsharpened. This knightly arming sword has a straight, double-edged blade with a fuller. The blade also has a gradual taper, meaning the edges gradually narrow to a point at the tip. As for the fuller, it’s designed to remove excess weight from the blade without compromising its balance or integrity, making it lighter and easier to wield as a result while bolstering the cutting edges. The Darksword Armory logo is engraved on the base, so you know you’re wielding a weapon crafted with quality and authenticity.
Protecting your grip is a cruciform-style crossguard made from mild steel. The crossguard has quillons with octagonal cross-sections. Each quillon angles out slightly around the quillon block in the center. Just underneath the crossguard is a wooden handle wrapped in genuine leather. This handle accommodates a one-handed grip like a true knight’s arming sword. You can wield it with one hand while the other is free to wield another weapon, a shield, or the reins of your loyal steed.
This cruciform arming sword has a wheel-shaped pommel, forged from mild steel, with a raised disc in the middle. The pommel then ends in a peen block, meaning the tang is locked over the pommel for reinforced durability. The pommel is intentionally oversized to add balance to the blade, pulling the point of balance toward the guard.
Included with this medieval one-handed sword is a scabbard. The scabbard has a wooden core wrapped in genuine leather. At the top, it has an angled throat for protecting the crossguard when sheathed. Embossed lines down the scabbard’s body add depth and detail. At the bottom is a steel chape for ensuring the tip of the blade doesn’t poke through.
