Description

Warrior, the enemy approaches the battlefield. You raise the Black Hilt Scottish Claymore with gleeful anticipation of victory. Made from 65Mn high-carbon steel, this functional Highlander sword features a long, double-edged blade. A fuller run down its center, lightening the blade without sacrificing strength. Its design works for slashing and thrusting.

Next, the Celtic sword continues with an angled crossguard. The arms, or quillons, of the guard angle towards the blade. They end with open quatrefoils. The center of the guard has langets, or points, that face onto the well-balanced blade, lining up with the fuller.

Then, the hilt has a long, two-handed grip. Black leather covers the slim, slightly barrel-shaped grip. The hilt ends with a wheel pommel. This warriors sword is an elegant addition to any reenactors equipment, perfect for a Scottish reenactment or battle. You are sure to feel fierce and ready for combat wielding this blade. Of course, when you are not needing to take this sword into battle, make sure to keep it sharp and ready to go with some sword maintenance supplies.

Claymore History Info

This Scottish sword takes its design from a sword popular in the late medieval and Renaissance periods, specifically the 15th and 16th centuries. The name is specific to Scottish swords as it is an Anglicization of the Gaelic term for big or great sword. Its design was fairly uniform from sword to sword, however the largest known claymore is in the National War Museum in Edinburgh. That museum piece was considerably heavier and longer than the historical average.
