Wield the Anglian Feltwell Sword as a part of your reenactment gear and ask yourself this simple question: Are you fighting to defend the Empire, or fighting to tear it down?
Handmade with Historical Inspiration
Forged as one piece from C60 high-carbon steel, this Roman Spatha is a reproduction of a Romano-British sword from the 5th to 6th Centuries found in the Feltwell bathhouse. This is also known as the Migration Period, an era when the Roman Empire was invaded on all sides by various tribes. Carbon steel is renowned for its strength and durability. The unsharpened, double-edged blade is also forged with a distal taper, getting gradually thinner from the base down to the tip for a more favorable balance. There is a fuller along the blade, removing excess weight and strengthening the edges for sparring and reenactment combat.
Moving down to the hilt, the guard and the pommel are wooden with brass plating. In between the two is the handle made of natural bone. The bone handle accommodates a secure one-handed grip with two notched rings. There is a steel disk at the bottom of the long oval pommel, adding structure and weight to the hilt.
This Romano-British Spatha comes with a wooden scabbard wrapped in leather. The topmount of the scholar is hammered brass. Just underneath the topmount is a brass suspension ring for sliding onto most belts. At the bottom of the scabbard is a brass chape similar to the historical sword from the Feltwell bathhouse.
Ideal for Warriors of All Kinds
Whether you’re fighting as a Roman legionary or one of the barbarian hordes, this reenactment Spatha complements various characters from the Migration Period. Embody the role of different Germanic tribes like the Anglo-Saxons who invaded Romano-Britain during the Empire’s collapse. On the other hand, stand and fight as one of the proud defenders of Roman territory against the encroaching hordes with this Anglian sword in hand.
The stage is set for foederati protecting the Empire’s borders from invasion while wielding this Feltwell Spatha sword, too. In the 5th Century, an age of war and chaos, your reenactment character can truly stand out wielding this dark age sword. This one-handed Germanic sword is nimble and easy to handle. The genuine bone grip gives you a secure hold while the brass suspension ring on the scabbard makes it easy to attach to your gear. Carry it with you to your next reenactment or keep it in your collection of historical reenactment swords as a reminder of Roman history.
