The White Koi Samurai Katana evokes the elegance, purity, and tranquility of koi fish in your collection. Whether you love samurai swords or mystical koi fish, this katana has you covered either way.
Crafted with a Hint of Mystic Charm
Forged from 1045 carbon steel, this katana is a faithful replica of those used by legendary samurai warriors. Carbon steel is known for its strength and durability. This katana, also known as a Japanese longsword, can be wielded with one or both hands. This is a fully functional weapon. It’s great for practice cuts and display. 1045 carbon steel means the blade has 0.45% carbon content, offering a great balance between toughness and edge retention. The metal blade extends into the handle in one solid piece, enhancing its strength and durability.
The sharpened blade is slightly curved like true uchigatana from feudal Japanese history. The uchigatana is another traditional term for describing this slightly curved Japanese katana. The blade has been differentially hardened to reveal a natural hamon line. Hamon is the wavy pattern close to the cutting edge of the blade. Its sharpened edge is rated at a Rockwell hardness of 45. There is a distinct bohi along the blade, also known as the fuller. This fuller removes extra weight from the blade without compromising its integrity. The tip, also known as the kissaki, is medium length.
Further down, the zinc alloy habaki, or blade collar is anchored to the guard by notched seppa. Seppa are the notched washers on each side of the crossguard. The tsuba crossguard is fashioned in the traditional maru-gata style, known for its round, circular shape with perforations in the design. This round handguard is carved to resemble koi fish swimming around a pond. This creates fluid, dynamic detail with a sense of movement.
The wooden handle is wrapped in a layer of faux white ray skin, then wrapped with white polyester cord, known as tsuka-ito. Embossed on the pebbled faux ray skin is a zinc alloy menuki with a brass finish. Menuki refers to the decoration on the handle just underneath the tsuka-ito wrapping. At the bottom, the hilt is wrapped through a brass kashira pommel.
This white carbon steel katana comes with a hard wood saya scabbard and a certificate of authenticity. The certificate not only ensures you’re holding the real thing, it also provides information about the weapon. This scabbard has a white finish. From the top to the bottom, the scabbard is patterned with black striations resembling ripples of water. The scabbard has white sageo, also known as a cord tied around the scabbard for tying onto your belt. The sageo is tied to a kurigata, known as the protrusion on the scabbard. The protrusion has a brass spacer. Please note the cords on the scabbard and the handle may not be as pictured.
