Description

What the Vikings lacked in appearance, they more than made up for in quality and function. An example of this would be their weapons. Take, for example, the Viking Sword, by Marto, which is simple, rugged, undecorated, but wickedly effective. While swords among the Vikings were particularly rare, given that axes and spears were far easier to construct, a sword was, none the less, a valued weapon. This sword, particularly, is a reproduction from the 9th or 10th century, easily characterized by the large, broad blade with the fuller along the blades spine along the upper third. The bronze-plated cast-metal hilt features finely worked figures, both geometrical and abstract in nature. And like most Viking swords, the guard is a short elliptical, with a straight grip and a pommel that matches the guard. The Viking Sword, by Marto, is a true Viking weapon, with decorations are simple but appealing. It also maintains the shape of a warriors weapon, making it perfect for a Viking chief or ruler.
