The Longford Sword With Scabbard

Description

The Longford Sword with Scabbard strikes a content medium between the broad cutting swords of the High Middle Ages and the thin, thrusting swords that came later. The end result is a longsword that is effective, fast, and deadly. Indeed, swords just like this one remained popular even into the Renaissance, where Swiss and German masters taught their principles to students who preferred something with more weight, power, and reach than the average rapier or small-sword. The sword blade features a strong profile taper and a thick ricasso, as well as a central ridge that gives stiffness to the blade. The taper ensures a strong thrusting point, while its overall size ensures power and weight behind both thrusts and slashes. The blade itself is forged from dual hardened 5160 high carbon steel. A fuller extends down three-fourths of the blade, helping reduce its weight. The crossguard is narrow with slightly curled quillons that feature rounded knots on their ends. The scent stopper pommel adds a bit more to the grip and provides extra balance to the sword. The grip is constructed from wood and wrapped with leather around the swords full length tang, which is peened to the pommel. Included with the sword is a matched scabbard, constructed from wood and wrapped in leather, which will keep the sword safe and secure when not in use. This functional weapon does not come with a sword belt, so you are free to carry and wear it however best suits your tastes and needs. It is not quite the average Renaissance sword, but that does not stop The Longford Sword with Scabbard from being a deadly weapon that is as fast as a rapier and as powerful as a two-handed claymore.

Please be aware that this sword is hand forged, and as such, its finish and its overall measurements can vary slightly from what is shown here.
