Stepping onto the field, your destiny awaits you. Lifting the Shrewsbury Hand and a Half Sword, you ready yourself for the first attack. Made from C60 high-carbon steel, this functional arming sword features a double-edged, unsharpened blade. It has a central ridge with a fuller running along a third of its length. The archers sword continues with a cruciform crossguard. The quillons thin out at the ends. They are also slightly wider, creating a somewhat bow-shaped design. Cross cutouts adorn the guard.
The hilt continues with a wooden grip. Brown leather covers the grip. The hilt ends with a rounded scent stopper-style pommel. A shield and cross carving adorns the peened pommel. Finally, this sword comes with a wooden scabbard. Brown leather covers the scabbard. It has a steel chape. You can carry this sword into battle with a sword frog and either a ring belt or buckle belt. It is perfect for any medieval knight or fantasy warrior to wield. It is especially ideal for a late-medieval reenactment. Of course, when you are not carrying this bastard sword into battle, make sure to keep it in good condition by using some maintenance supplies.
History Info
This medieval knight sword takes its name and design inspiration from the 1403 battle between the future King Henry V of England and the rebels under the leadership of Henry Hotspur Percy. The sides were originally allies when deposing the former king Richard II. However, resentment turned them against one another culminating in the battle filled with archers, cavalry, and knights. This sword recalls that famous and important battle that turned the tide of English history.
