The training wakizashi can be wielded with one or both hands. The textured handle has notched ridges near the pommel and the guard. These notches give you a secure grip. The grip is straight until you get to the pommel, which flares out slightly. Replacing the traditional tsuba crossguard is a single extension that keeps your grip in place. Moving down the length, the single-edged blade has a fuller from the guard to the tip. Like most katanas and wakizashis, the blade is slightly curved to emphasize power on the cut.
