Taking a historical blade and giving it a more modern twist, the Honshu Subhilt Wakizashi is a weapon ready for the battlefield. Made from carbon steel, this functional sword features a curved blade typical of a Japanese sword. A fuller runs down the length of the blade. The word Honshu adorns the base of the sharpened blade.
Next, the modern wakizashi has a curved carbon-steel crossguard. It curves towards the hilt. There is a section of thermoplastic rubber with a concave curve along the underside.
Next, there is a short sub-hilt. The sub-hilt is a small section of steel that separates the first part of the grip from the rest. This first section is perfect for resting an index finger. Both the smaller first section and the longer rest of the grip have texturing. The texturing makes the hilt more secure to grasp.
Then, the handle ends with a carbon-steel pommel. The pommel has a hole for a lanyard, not included. Overall, the sword has a perfect blade-to-hilt balancing.
Finally, the Honshu Subhilt Wakizashi comes with a wooden scabbard. Black faux leather wraps around the scabbard. It has black cotton cord detailing. This modern version of a wakizashi looks great added to any Samurai sword collection.
