Ryujin are the fearsome dragon gods of warriors and the Imperial Japanese family. Wield the CAS 40th Anniversary Ryujin Katana and step back into the age of samurai warriors.
A Tribute to Bushido
This limited edition katana celebrates forty years of CAS Iberia and Dragon King craftsmanship. Forged from T10 high-carbon steel, this katana shows off a traditional design dating back millennia reimagined for the modern samurai. Carbon steel is renowned for its strength and durability. This katana, also known as the Japanese longsword, can be wielded with one or both hands. The katana is designed with a silver Ryujin dragon motif.
The blade has been differentially hardened to reveal a wispy hamon line. Hamon is the wavy pattern along the cutting edge of the blade. The sharpened blade is curved slightly like true uchigatana from feudal Japanese history. The uchigatana is another traditional term for describing a slightly curved Japanese katana. Designed for the modern samurai warrior, the blade has the iconic bohi along the blade, also known as the fuller. This fuller removes extra weight from the blade without compromising its speed or strength.
Further down, the silver habaki, or blade collar is anchored to the guard by the notched seppa. Seppa are two small washers placed on both sides of the crossguard. In between the guard and the handle is a stylized silver dragon fuchi, also known as the spacer between the blade and the hilt. The tsuba crossguard is fashioned to look like a soaring silver dragon with golden lightning bolt accents. This dragon tsuba guard is also in the style ofΒ maru gata, also known as a circular crossguard with two holes on either side of the blade.
Moving down the hilt, the wooden handle is wrapped in black tsuka-ito cord over real white ray skin. Embossed on the pebbled ray skin is a silver dragon menuki. Menuki refers to the decoration on the handle just underneath the tsuka-ito wrapping. The sword pommel, also known as theΒ kashira, is designed to look like a silver and scaly dragon’s tail with a golden lightning bolt.
This silver Ryujin katana comes with a black lacquered saya scabbard. The scabbard has black cord sageo, referring to the cord tied around the scabbard for tying onto your belt. The sageo is tied to a black and gold kurigata, known as the protrusion on the scabbard. This protrusion’s notched golden spacer adds regal detail.
