As feared as it is renowned, the Bronze Horse Head Iberian Falcata transports you to an age of fierce warriors defending their lands from Roman invasion. Whether you’re a Celtiberian tribal warrior or a Greek mercenary, this falcata is a worthy blade for your gear.
Inspired by the Ancient World
Forged as one piece from C60 high-carbon steel, this sword is a reproduction of falcata-type swords from Classical and Greco-Roman history. It’s the sword that inspired fear into the heart of the Roman Republic itself before the Iberian Peninsula was conquered following the Second Punic War. Carbon steel is renowned for its strength and durability. The unsharpened, double-edged blade has a dramatic inward curve that emphasizes power on the swing. This blade has a broad cutting edge near the tip that tapers into the base. There are two parallel fullers along the blade. A thinner line is carved around the inner fuller, ending about halfway down the spine.
Moving down to the hilt, the guard angles inward toward the handle and is made of bronze. Two brown wooden plates are riveted to the tang for a secure grip. Like the guard, the handle also curves inward slightly to place more power on the swing. The focal point of the design is the bronze horse head pommel. This pommel has a long snout, intricately carved eyes, and ears, closely resembling the mighty and majestic Iberian horse breeds.
This Carthaginian sword comes with a wooden scabbard wrapped in brown leather with brass fittings. There are three hanging brass rings on the scabbard for easy wear. You can wear it straight up and down like a legionary or let it hang at an angle from your side. Please note this sword does not come with a sword belt. The brass chape at the bottom helps secure the tip and ensures it won’t poke through.
For the Warrior in You
Robust, intimidating, and strikingly ornate, this bronze horse head falcata is an excellent weapon for all kinds of characters from the history of the early Roman Republic and Carthage. Wield this Iberian falcata sword as a Greek mercenary or Carthaginian soldier fighting for gold and glory. Embody the role of a Celtic or Iberian warrior defending your homeland from Roman and Carthaginian invasions. You can also wear this curved Iberian sword as a part of your Roman reenactment character as spoils of war.
The hacking and slashing capabilities of the Greek falcata were unrivalled throughout much of the Iron Age and Classical history. Its ability to bite through armor and helmets alike gave it a fearsome reputation on the battlefield. Rest assured your grip is secure with the bronze fittings and the wooden plates. This gives you maneuverability while keeping your shield hand free. If you’re a sword collector at heart, then you can display this historical reenactment sword in your arsenal as a reminder of Classical warfare.
