Practical, reliable, and stylish for the free Viking warrior, the Norwegian 9th Century Viking Sword is the ideal choice. This Type G sword from Petersen’s Viking sword Typology is excellent for warriors and collectors alike.
Inspired by the Viking Age
Forged as one piece from C60 high-carbon steel, this Viking sword is reminiscent of the one-handed swords used by Viking raiders from Norway and Scandinavia throughout the early medieval period. Carbon steel is renowned for its strength and durability. The unsharpened double-edged blade has a broad fuller and is designed for stage combat. The blade is also forged with a distal taper, getting gradually thinner from the base down to the tip for a more favorable balance. The tip is rounded for added safety.
Moving down to the hilt, the short crossguard and the pommel are made from hammered iron. Both the guard and pommel end in curled finials. The wooden handle is wrapped in leather and it has embossed spirals for a secure grip. You can wield this Viking Type G sword with one hand. At the bottom, the pommel has finials that curl away from the blade and is peened over the handle to anchor the tang to the hilt.
This historical Viking sword comes with a wooden scabbard wrapped in brown leather. The throat is stitched with dark brown leather for added detail and securing the guard when sheathed. The chape, also called the endmount, is also stitched for securing the tip of the blade.
