Description

This 18th C. Cut and Thrust Sword is a somewhat middle-ground when comes to the evolution of the sword. It features the more ornate hilt of later eras, but still possesses a blade that is considerably thicker than the smallsword or rapier. That sits it effectively as a sword that is made to make the best of both worlds, possessing a thickness and weight to offer impact and powerful behind cuts and thrusts both. The sword features a handmade EN45 high-carbon steel blade with a flat waist and a diamond shaped cross-section, as well as slightly angled edges that taper down to a fine, thrusting point. The guard and hilt is crafted entirely in fine brass, possessing not only a small disc guard at the waist of the blade, but also a pair of finger guards for an advanced fencing grip, as well as a spiral-grooved hilt and a D-shaped guard, for added defense of the hand. Included with the sword is a matched scabbard that is made of wood, wrapped in black leather, and fitted with brass accents on the throat and chape. Few blades can offer an adequate combination of fencers grace and old world arming sword power, but this 18th C. Cut and Thrust Sword is one that does so with surprising beauty, making it a fine sword to wear your side and carry to the fair.
