The Type 32 NCO Sabre is of Japanese descent, echoing the look of the gunto, or the sword that was produced for the Japanese military after the Samurai were phased out of the military. As such, this sword has features of both the katana and the military saber. This sabers blade is more distinctive of the katana, possessing a more subtle curve that was common in the legendary Japanese sword. Still, though, the design is distinctively saber-like, featuring a shorter blade of hand crafted steel and a fuller down its spine, for reduced weight. The hilt is more akin to that of a saber as well, possessing a D-shaped guard to protect the hand and knuckles, as well as a metal and leather-scaled grip, to provide a more secure and comfortable hold when the saber is drawn and carried. Included with the sword is a cast-metal steel scabbard, set with a hanging ring on one side to make the blade easier to carry. The combination of Japanese style and the European saber makes for a truly impressive weapon, and this Type 32 NCO Sabre recreates a historic military sword from the Japanese military machine for any collector, fan, or enthusiast to either display in their home or wear at their side - or maybe a bit of both.
