Description

The rapier was a popular weapon across all of Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries, and each area had its own distinctive designs. This Pappenheimer Hilt Rapier, for instance, is a reproduction of a sword that is based out of Germany. Somewhat similar in design to the Spanish inspired cup hilt, the pappenheimer was a unique hilt design that features angled discs that cup the hand, merged with twisting quillons that provide a secondary bastion of defense. All in all, the design is an impressively ornate one, but a markedly effective one as well. This rapier has a classic pappenheimer hilt, as well as a cut-and-thrust style blade that is hand crafted entirely in high-carbon steel. The blade also possesses a longer-than-normal ricasso, as well as a diamond cross-section to help make the blade a bit stiffer, which enhances its thrusting strength and its parrying ability. The grip is wire-wrapped for comfort and appeal, while the hilt is capped off with a small scent stopper pommel. Included with the sword is a leather-wrapped, wooden scabbard, which is perfect for safe-keeping the blade when it is not drawn. For a distinctive rapier design that is unique in its form, look no further than this Pappenheimer Hilt Rapier, which offers a less-common hilt with a classically inspired rapier blade.
