The distal taper means it’s slightly wider at the forte and gradually narrows into the foible. The forte is the stronger side of the blade closest to the hilt and the foible contains the tip. The stainless steel, cruciform crossguard has an angled chappe in the center. The quillons on either end of the crossguard end in angled knobs pointing toward the blade.

Beneath the crossguard is a black leather-wrapped handle. It accommodates a secure two-handed grip like a true longsword. This handle tapers slightly toward the pommel, placing the balance and the weight further forward to emphasize the cut. At the bottom, the stainless steel pommel provides a great counterbalance to the design. The pommel is shaped in the scent-stopper style complete with a faceted look.

This medieval steel longsword comes with a black leather-wrapped scabbard. There is a notch and a felt tab at the throat for accommodating the chappe in the crossguard. For added convenience, there is a sword frog already attached to the top of the scabbard. It can easily attach to your sword belt. Simply slide it on and wear it based on your preference. The sword frog is black to match the scabbard and is designed to hold your sword at an angle for historical detail. There is a stainless steel chappe at the bottom that ends in a round finial to ensure the tip doesn’t poke through.
